Congratulations to all who took time to write, fax or call
yesterday!
Hundreds of messages found their way to the House floor. Shannon reported she
saw them delivering the messages right onto the House floor.
They finished about 4:00 this morning and passed a tax bill! It appears
to
be about 50-60 million short of what was needed, but it is a far better end
than
the 300 million we were looking at yesterday. Details to follow. The
votes were:
63 to 59 in the House
23 to 15 in the Senate
No room to spare! Taxes include cigarette and sales. We'll have more to
come
on specifics on Monday.
Congratulations to everyone. The CIL's ADAPT, our friends at the Labor
Unions, all the disability advocates, consumers friends, and of course,
Janet, Laura, Diane, Trudy and team SRS for their support. You're hard
work
this session really did make a difference. As Justin always tells us,
Together we shall overcome!
Now the real work of democracy begins. Learn who the candidates are,
study
their voting record, get involved in campaigns and VOTE!
Let's all take a short break and celebrate, the battle is just beginning.
