The Senate committee looking at the budget is
considering raising the LOC scores to 39 and reducing protected income levels
by $100.00.
As you know, the House is considering raising the LOC scores to 50.
The good news is the Governor has a new proposal on the table that would raise
taxes and cut some more. We haven't seen what the additional cuts are yet, so
we don't have a position on it yet. Either way,
WE HAVE GOT TO TAKE ACTION NOW!
We realize this is short notice, but we need a strong contingent of folks to
get to the statehouse on Tuesday, March 26th at 10:30. We'll meet in the
(Rotunda) middle on the 3rd floor.
That's Tuesday, 26th at 10:30
Our issues:
NO RAISING OF LOC SCORES.
NO CHANGE TO PROTECTED INCOME LEVEL
These issues will affect Seniors and people with disabilities.
Our issues must be heard and taken seriously. Please join us on Tuesday,
there is no more time to wait. The budget crisis is being balanced on the
backs of the poorest of the poor and it must stop!
If you have questions, I'll be in the KACIL office (785-825-2675) all day
Monday, the 25th.
WE NEED YOU THERE! IT'S SHORT NOTICE, BUT PEOPLE ON THE WAITING LIST WILL
HAVE NO NOTICE THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER ON THE LIST.
Thanks for all your ongoing support.
Gina
