list. This is the first
of many updates for the legislative session.
The good news is the Gov. Budget message spoke often for the need for
services for people with disabilities and seniors. The great news is a
proposed $10 million dollar increase for waiting lists and services.
The bad news is it was not met with great support. But that's where our
work
continues. We've done so much to educate the public about the
needs. We've
done a great job letting legislators know our concerns and we certainly
showed our commitment yesterday in the cold, with our friends from Aging and
Unions.
But it is only the beginning. Let us start today to support a plan that
increases funding for services and let them know we will accept nothing less.
I will be attending a meeting today to get more detail on the Gov. plan and
on Senators Kerr and Morris plan. More to come.
My schedule for this week is:
Tuesday and Wed - Statehouse. Budget committee meetings 10:30 to 12:00
Thursday - Salina in the office
Friday morning-in office and to a meeting in Salina.
