The
House and Senate Conference committees continue to debate the 2004 budget that
will be over budget. Decisions on how to resolve the deficit will be held
over until the Omnibus session, which is now slated for April 30th. They are
taking time off to get the April 23rd revenue estimates.
The only issue from SRS still to be decided is the money for DD services, now
for State aid instead of waiting lists. You will recall that state aid
was drastically cut and never put back. This is money used to provide services
for those not eligible for the waiver services.
So this couldn't be a better time to come to Topeka to make your voices heard!
Tomorrow is BIG TENT DAY! BE THERE ! 10:30 on the South steps
of the Capital. You can also park by the old black locomotive at the South end
Capital Plaza parking lot and a shuttle bus will pick you up and take you and
return. Must be out by 4:00. We'll be done well before that!
This is a critical moment in our history. Please be there to be part of it and
make a difference! Please remember the words of Dr. King at the bottom of
my e-mails. They ring true today!
"In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the
silence of our friends." - Martin Luther King Jr
