Governor
Sebelius today appointed Pamela Johnson Betts as Secretary of Aging. She
worked for Kansas Department of Health and Environment and previously was the
Director of the Kansas Commission on African American Affairs. Janice
DeBoer will remain on staff.
Yesterday the Senate Ways and Means committee gave it's report on SRS Budget.
It included the waiting lists for the MR. DD and PD waiver, but no money
attached.
They did support a proposal by The Alliance, a provider group that recommended
reduced the number of CDDO's from 28 to 14 or less. Senate will proceed. We are
under the assumption that the House is also in favor of this concept. More to
come on this one.
The House Subcommittee finished hearing testimony on Department on Aging Budget
and will start on "waivers and facilities" next week. We're not sure
if that's the SRS budget or just a part. We also don't know times for
testimony, but if you plan to testify, bring your courage!
More to come.
