Federal transportation funding for programs important to the disability community is about to run out on May 31, 2015. Discussion has occurred, but no consensus exists on addressing the issue. Impacted areas include, but are not limited to, mass and para-transit, high speed passenger rail systems (includes Amtrak and regional passenger rail systems), and curb cuts. As much as half of all transportation funds received by states are Federal dollars, so substantial cuts would occur without a timely solution. Please contact your members of Congress to support increased funding today
A group of like-minded people are in the process of creating a statewide organization called Kansas Advocacy Network- Disability Organization or KAN-DO. KAN-DO members will have a Facebook page where all members can speak freely.
KAN-DO members will have a monthly phone call to discuss the latest involvement issues for people with disabilities and good old fashioned peer sharing. Most important this will be a card carrying disability community organization.
The new logo will soon be revealed!
